Live, Learn and Enjoy is the U3A Maitland motto. Universities of the Third Age, or U3As as they are more often called, are voluntary, non-profit organisations which aim to offer people educational and social opportunities operating in a pleasant and supportive setting. U3As are basically self-help groups built on the premise that collectively older people have the skills and knowledge to provide learning opportunities for themselves.

AUGUST 2nd …Steve Schumacher…CHANGE
Steve will talk about the changes in coins over the years dating back from 3000 BC to the present day. He will have a collection of coins to show us including a 3000 BC Chinese coin and one from the time of Jesus Christ. Steve is the Sales Secretary for Maitland District Coin Club which meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at Taro Baptist Church Hall. I’d bet a bob it’ll be an interesting talk.
 
SEPTEMBER 6th…Ron Heinz…FOSSICKING AROUND AUSTRALIA
Ron is a member of  Hunter Valley Gemology Club which meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 1 Maize St, East Maitland. He has fossicked extensively around Australia and in overseas countries for a wide variety of gems and stones. His talk will be based on his experiences collecting samples in all parts of Australia. You’d have rocks in your head if you miss this talk. 
 
LUNCH AT LORN
If you would like to join us for lunch before each speaker we meet at the club from 12.15. The bistro offers a great selection of yummy meals including daily specials. I look forward to seeing you there,

Lunch Club

Lunch club meets on the last Friday of each month.

Due to it’s popularity the Lunch Club is now fully booked and quite a few on the Waiting List for both Terms 2, 3 and 4.
